I can’t believe I opened for Corey Hart today!
Okay, it wasn’t like I warmed up the audience for the “Sunglasses at Night” guy on his Back from the ’80s Seeking Cash Tour or anything.
But I did make my first-ever guest appearance on a podcast, so that’s pretty cool.
Todd Hancock–the well known and highly respected Vancouver broadcaster who used to rock with CFOX before going solo with his Toddcast Podcast–aired an episode of his show that included the wacky combination of Corey Hart, a lady wrestler, and yours truly.
Perhaps realizing that I’m pretty damn boring on my own, Hancock was kind enough to let me bring along some backup, in the form of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bruce Fairbairn, Gregg Allman, and Ronnie James Dio. He skilfully inserted some choice audio clips I’d recorded with those guys into the mix, and lo and behold, here’s a 27-minute conversation for you to check out.
Hancock asked me how I got into writing, what my first concert was, which Beatles album I liked the most, and a bunch of other neat stuff. It was a lotta fun to do, and I might even do another podcast if the pay improves a bit.
(And for all the fans of Corey Hart and the lady wrestler, sorry, but this is the Newt-only version. Go search around on Todd’s website if you want to hear what they’ve got goin’ on.)
