That time Jon Bon Jovi told me about New Jersey teens picking songs for his band’s latest album, Slippery When Wet

By Steve Newton

I did the third of my three interviews with Jon Bon Jovi in June of 1987, when his band was touring behind its third LP, Slippery When Wet, which went on to sell more than 12 million copies in the U.S. alone.

At one point in the conversation I asked him if it was true that a group of New Jersey high-school students helped the group choose the songs for that album.
