FRIDAY: Texas garage-punk quartet the Marked Men plays the Rickshaw Theatre, with guests Needles//Pins, Long Knife, and No Brainer.
FRIDAY: the Vancouver Canucks Road Game Viewing Party at Rogers Arena features a live broadcast of the sixth Canucks vs. Predators playoff game from Nashville, shown on the arena’s 1,300-square-foot scoreboard. with all proceeds benefiting the Canucks for Kids Fund.
FRIDAY: Vancouver prog-funk band Brass Camel performs it’s Tour Finale Bash at the Pearl, with guests Post Modern Connection.
Terminal Station plays Frankie’s Jazz

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY: conductor Vern Griffiths joins vocalist Myra Maud and the Vancouver Symphony at the Orpheum Theatre in a program of popular music from the 1920s, including “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” “Mack the Knife,” and “St. Louis Blues.”
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: J.E.H. MacDonald? A Tangled Garden at the Vancouver Art Gallery until May 12 features 10 previously unknown painted sketches attributed to a founding member of the Group of Seven.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: True Tribal: Contemporary Expressions of Ancestral Tattoo Practices explores 30-plus years of Indigenous tattooing from around the world and showcases the artists who are reconnecting with traditional skin-marking practices, at the Museum of Vancouver.
Velvet Terrorism at Polygon Gallery
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: through videos, photographs, testimonies, song lyrics, and reflections, the exhibition Velvet Terrorism: Pussy Riot’s Russia offers an account of infamous feminist art collective Pussy Riot’s non-violent actions, running until June 2 at the Polygon Gallery.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: the DOXA Documentary Film Festival, running May 2 to 12, features film screenings, panel discussions, public forums, and educational programs at various Vancouver venues.
SATURDAY: American blues and rock singer-songwriter and guitarist Hannah Wicklund plays the Biltmore Cabaret as part of her Hell in the Hallway Tour, with guest Bratboy.
Pearl Jam plays Rogers Arena

Late Night with the Devil screens at the Rio
SUNDAY: screening at the Rio Theatre of directors Cameron and Colin Cairnes’s horror flick Late Night with the Devil, about a live television broadcast in 1977 that goes horribly wrong, unleashing evil into the nation’s living rooms.
