MONDAY: the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, coinciding with Orange Shirt Day, features events at various Vancouver venues that explore the diverse cultures, voices, experiences, and histories of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis.
MONDAY TO FRIDAY: the Vancouver International Film Festival, running to October 6 at various Vancouver venues, features screenings, live performances, talks, industry sessions, and other events celebrating film and film culture.
MONDAY & WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: Emily Carr: A Room of Her Own, running until January 2025 at the Vancouver Art Gallery, features approximately 25 works drawn from the Gallery’s Emily Carr Collection, the most comprehensive holdings of her work in the world.
Jersey Boys runs at the Stanley
TUESDAY TO FRIDAY: the Arts Club Theatre presents performances at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage until October 27 of Jersey Boys, a musical that tells the story of New Jersey hitmakers Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
WEDNESDAY: the Vancouver Whitecaps take on the Seattle Sounders in Major League Soccer action at BC Place.
WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: Empty-Handed is a contemporary dance piece at the Firehall Arts Centre that explores the journeys of five cosmic characters through themes of darkness, deception, and greed.
The Stampeders are in town
FRIDAY: the BC Lions take on the Calgary Stampeders in Canadian Football League action at BC Place.
FRIDAY: superstar pianist Lang Lang joins music director Otto Tausk and the Vancouver Symphony in a program that includes Saint-Saëns’ Second Piano Concerto and Carnival of the Animals.
FRIDAY: the Vancouver Canucks take on Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers in National Hockey League preseason action at Rogers Arena.
Emmett Jerome plays the Fox Cabaret
FRIDAY: Alberta alt-country/roots singer-songwriter and guitarist Emmett Jerome performs at a release party for debut CD Rocky Mountain Son at the Fox Cabaret, with guest Mercy Walker.
