David Gogo has hung out with some of the greatest names in guitar, including Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and B.B. King.
But just today the Nanaimo blues-rocker increased his bragging rights substantially when he tweeted a picture of himself jamming with Albert Collins, the “Master of the Telecaster”.
According to the tweet, the photo was taken at Harpo’s in Victoria in 1990. The concert shot also includes Debbie Davies, who was a member of Collins’ band, the Icebreakers, at the time.
I was fortunate enough to see Collins in action at the Town Pump about 30 years ago, but, sadly, he died of cancer in 1993, at the age of 60.
Gogo’s still going strong at 46, though. Next month he releases his 14th album, Vicksburg Call, and will play selections from it at the PNE on August 30 as part of the Mosaic Music Series.
