I did my second interview with one of my favourite rock guitarists from the ’70s, Blue Öyster Cult’s Donald Roeser–aka Buck Dharma–back on January 27 of 2000.
The band was in a rehearsal studio in Long Island, New York, preparing for a tour that would bring them to the Rage nightclub in downtown Vancouver.
Two years earlier the group had released its latest album, Heaven Forbid, which I thought was great, so I asked about that mostly.
It’s kinda cool because when Buck answers the phone you can hear coguitarist and keyboardist Allen Lanier tuning up in the background.
Sadly, he’d be the first member of the group’s classic ’70s lineup to pass away, in 2013.
