FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: showing nightly until June 30 at the Dome, Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon is an immersive, 42-minute, 360° surround-sound journey through deep space, alien worlds, and celestial landscapes, featuring the mindblowing music from the legendary prog-rock band’s 1973 album.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: That Green Ideal: Emily Carr and the Idea of Nature, running until November 8 at the Vancouver Art Gallery, features more than 100 works by the iconic B.C. artist, exploring in-depth her obsession with the landscape of the Pacific Northwest.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: the Vancouver Canadians take on the Eugene Emeralds in Minor League Baseball action at Nat Bailey Stadium.
Come From Away at the Stanley
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: Come From Away, Irene Sankoff and David Hein’s musical inspired by the true events of September 11, when 7,000 stranded airplane passengers were welcomed by the residents of Gander, Newfoundland, runs until July 26 at the Arts Club Theatre Company’s Stanley BFL Canada Stage.
SATURDAY: American slide guitarist and one-man blues-punk band, Bob Log III, plays the Biltmore Cabaret, with guests Caveman & the Banshee.
SUNDAY: California melodic hardcore-punk band Good Riddance performs tunes from new album Before the World Caves In at the Rickshaw Theatre, with guests Ignite, the Corps, Meantime, and Vargouille.
The Black Keys play Rogers Arena
SUNDAY: American garage- and blues-rock duo The Black Keys, commposed of guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney, plays Rogers Arena on its Peaches ‘n Kream World Tour, with guest Jeremie Albino.
SUNDAY: the Vancouver Vinyl Record Show at Heritage Hall features vendors selling vinyl LPs, 45s, CDs, and music memorabilia.
SUNDAY: screening at the Rio Theatre of a 40th anniversary restoration of director John Woo’s Hong Kong gangster epic, A Better Tomorrow.
Alestorm plays the Commodore
SUNDAY: Scottish pirate-metal quintet Alestorm plays the Commodore Ballroom, with guests Twilight Force and Greyhawk.
