I did my fourth interview with Rob Halford in May of 2008, two weeks before Judas Priest released its 16th studio album, Nostradamus, the band’s first concept album, which told the story of the 16th-century physician and reputed seer, famous for his prophecies of world events.
When Halford connected with me from his home in Birmingham, England, I started off by mentioning how I hadn’t gotten much sleep the night before, having gone to see Rush and then staying up till the wee hours writing a review.
Then I told him I was going to see Iron Maiden in a few days, which led me to wonder whether there’d been any competition between Maiden and Priest over the years.
