In April of 1990 hard-rock drum legend Tommy Aldridge called me up from the road in Minneapolis, where he was playing that night with his latest band, Whitesnake.
The group was touring behind its eighth studio album, Slip of the Tongue, the one with “Fool For Your Loving 89”.
I actually preferred the original 1980 version of “Fool For Your Loving”, from the Ready an’ Willing album, myself.
And best of all was the live version from the 1980 LP Live…In the Heart of the City.
Anyway, getting back to the Tommy Aldridge interview, near the start of the conversation I asked him how he came to join Whitesnake in the first place. That led to my question about how different it was working for David Coverdale than his previous boss, Ozzy Osbourne.
Turns out Aldridge didn’t really view his role as a drummer that way.
