Spendo: Vancouver rock quintet performs tracks off its EP The Great Unknown, with guests Wise Youngblood. June 1 at the Red Room.

Day of Music: a full day of free musical performances at various Vancouver locations culminates in an evening performance by the Otto Tausk-led Vancouver Symphony of selections from Antonin Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 (‘New World’). June 1 at the Orpheum Theatre.

Streetheart & Honeymoon Suite: Canadian rock bands from the ’70s and ’80s perform on a double bill. June 7 at Great Canadian Casino Vancouver and June 8 at River Rock Casino Resort.

Images in Vogue: Vancouver new-wave band from the ’80s, featuring vocalist Dale Martindale, with guests Combine the Victorious, Devours, and DJ Evilyn13. June 8 at the Rickshaw Theatre. Here’s my 1983 article on Images in Vogue.

Rickshaw Theatre 15th Anniversary: four-day celebration of the local concert venue’s 15th year features performances by Bison, Black Wizard, Bend Sinister, Colleen Rennison, the Pack A.D., Hyaenas, Pointed Sticks, Rich Hope, and many more. June 15 & 20-22 at the Rickshaw Theatre.

Adventures in Pedal Steel: accompanied by guitarist Paul Pigat, bassist Jeremy Holmes, and drummer Liam MacDonald, guitarist Scott Smith performs classic pedal-steel instrumentals and selections from his ambient pedal-steel album Lifeboat: Explorations in Pedal Steel. Part of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. June 23 at Ocean Artworks.

Snoop Dogg: American rapper, record producer, and actor performs material from his upcoming Dr. Dre-produced album Missionary. June 25 at Rogers Arena.

Scott Smith and the Midnight Riders: Vancouver guitarist-vocalist Scott Smith of Terminal Station and Just a Season leads a tribute to the music of the Allman Brothers Band. A free show as part of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. June 30 at the Shipyards.
