FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: True Tribal: Contemporary Expressions of Ancestral Tattoo Practices explores 30-plus years of Indigenous tattooing from around the world and showcases the artists who are reconnecting with traditional skin-marking practices, at the Museum of Vancouver.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: Québec’s Cirque Alphonse presents its show Barbu, which delves into the birth of the circus in Montréal at the turn of the 20th century, at the Cultch.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: the iconic songbook of Johnny Cash is featured in Ring of Fire, a theatrical concert created by Richard Maltby, Jr. that delves into the heart of Cash’s music, running until August 11 at the Arts Club Theatre’s Granville Island Stage.

A Clockwork Orange screens at the Rio
SATURDAY: screening at the Rio Theatre of A Clockwork Orange, director Stanley Kubrick‘s 1971 adaptation of Anthony Burgess’s disturbing novel about England in the totalitarian future, starring Malcolm McDowell as a charismatic delinquent who is jailed and volunteers for an experimental aversion therapy developed by the government in an effort to solve society’s crime problem.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY: the Westward Music Festival features performances by headliners Mick Jenkins, Cherry Glazerr, Debby Friday, NOBRO, Cartel Madras, and Corridor at the Vogue Theatre, Fox Cabaret, Biltmore Cabaret, and Red Gate Arts Society.

SUNDAY: Adventures in Pedal Steel sees guitarist Scott Smith perform classic pedal-steel instrumentals and selections from his ambient pedal-steel album Lifeboat: Explorations in Pedal Steel at Ocean Artworks as part of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
