MONDAY TO FRIDAY: True Tribal: Contemporary Expressions of Ancestral Tattoo Practices explores 30-plus years of Indigenous tattooing from around the world and showcases the artists who are reconnecting with traditional skin-marking practices, at the Museum of Vancouver.
TUESDAY TO FRIDAY: the iconic songbook of Johnny Cash is featured in Ring of Fire, a theatrical concert created by Richard Maltby, Jr. that delves into the heart of Cash’s music, running until August 11 at the Arts Club Theatre’s Granville Island Stage.
TUESDAY & THURSDAY: Theatre Under the Stars presents a performance in Stanley Park of the musical School of Rock, based on the 2003 Jack Black movie, with pre-show performances from School of Rock Vancouver.

ThunderVolt at Playland
WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: Playland features midway games, attractions like the Haunted Mansion and Sweet Escape Mini Golf, food options, and numerous rides, including the newly launched rollercoaster, ThunderVolt. Playland runs until August 16 on the PNE Grounds, then becomes part of admission to the PNE Fair.
WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: Anti-Icon: Apokalypsis is an exhibition of 17 self-portraits by photographer Martine Gutierrez, running until September 29 at the Polygon Gallery.
WEDNESDAY: Portland psych-rock band Unknown Mortal Orchestra plays the Vogue Theatre.

Hermanos Gutiérrez play the Queen E
THURSDAY: Latin instrumental duo Hermanos Gutiérrez, comprised of Ecuadorian-Swiss brothers Alejandro Gutiérrez (guitar and lap steel) and Estevan Gutiérrez (guitar and percussion), plays the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
THURSDAY: Greg Sestero, star of the pop-culture phenomenon The Room and author of the best-selling memoir The Disaster Artist, hosts a double bill at the Rio Theatre of Tommy Wiseau‘s new film Big Shark, followed by Wiseau’s The Room.
FRIDAY: Canadian blues vocalist Angelique Francis performs with her band at White Rock’s Blue Frog Studios.

Nigel Mack plays Frankie’s Jazz
FRIDAY: Chicago blues artist and former Vancouverite Nigel Mack performs tunes from his latest album Devil’s Secrets at Frankie’s Jazz.
