MONDAY: Vancouver folk-rock band Just a Season, fronted by singer-songwriter and guitarist Scott Smith, plays Guilt and Co.

The Cult plays the Vogue

TUESDAY: British hard-rock band the Cult, featuring singer Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy, plays the Vogue Theatre, with guests Patriarchy from L.A.

TUESDAY TO FRIDAY: the Arts Club Theatre presents performances at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage until October 20 of Jersey Boys, a musical that tells the story of New Jersey hitmakers Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

TUESDAY TO THURSDAY: California punk-rock quartet Social Distortion, featuring singer-guitarist Mike Ness, plays three night at the Commodore Ballroom, with guests the Bellrays. September 18 and 19 SOLD OUT.

WEDNESDAY: Vancouver drum great and all-around good guy Pat Steward, best known for his work with Bryan Adams and Odds, appears at a meet ‘n’ greet at Rufus Drum Shop where he will sign copies of the Modern Drummer magazine that features him on the cover.

Bif Naked plays the Rickshaw

THURSDAY: Vancouver rocker Bif Naked performs tunes from her latest album, Champion, at the Rickshaw Theatre, with guests Fake Shark.

FRIDAY: British singer-songwriter and guitarist Paul Weller, formerly of the Jam and the Style Council, plays the Vogue Theatre, with guest George Houston from Ireland.

FRIDAY: American hard-rock guitar virtuoso John 5 plays the Rickshaw Theatre, with guests Sticks N’ Stones from Toronto and Turning Jane from L.A.

FRIDAY: British folk-punk singer-songwriter and political activist Billy Bragg plays the Commodore Ballroom.

Suspiria screens at the VIFF Centre

FRIDAY: screening at the VIFF Centre of a 4K restoration of director Dario Argento‘s 1977 horror film Suspiria, starring Jessica Harper as an American dancer who transfers to a ballet school in Germany that is actually a front for the occult.
