That time I asked Cracker’s David Lowery about the possibility of a Camper Van Beethoven reunion

By Steve Newton

I did the first of my three interviews with Cracker frontman David Lowery in August of 1998, four days before the release of the band’s fourth album, Gentleman’s Blues.

At one point in the conversation I asked Lowery about the possibility of a reunion by his previous group, indie-rock faves Camper Van Beethoven, which had broken up in 1990.

He didn’t think there was much point to that, although the following year the CVB rarities compilation Camper Van Beethoven Is Dead. Long Live Camper Van Beethoven was released, and then by 2002 the band was playing live again.
