By Steve Newton
Back in May of 1989 I interviewed British guitar great John Sykes while he was touring behind the debut album by his new power trio, Blue Murder, which included bassist Tony Franklin and drummer Carmine Appice.
As the conversation wound down I asked Sykes if there was any chance of Blue Murder playing Vancouver soon, ’cause you know I woulda gone.
Have a listen:
Blue Murder never did play Vancouver, that I’m aware of, but I did get to see Sykes tear up the frets with the post-Lynott version of Thin Lizzy at the Showbox in Seattle 12 years later.
