AC/DC plays BC Place

MONDAY: screening at the VIFF Centre of No Other Land, the Oscar-winning documentary about the realities of Israeli occupation in the State of Palestine’s West Bank. In Arabic, Hebrew, and English, with English subtitles.

MONDAY TO FRIDAY: The Art of Banksy: “Without Limits” exhibition, running until May 25 at 1 Alexander Street, features over 200 prints, photos, sculptures, installations, and murals by world-famous street artist Banksy.

TUESDAY: Aussie hard-rock legends AC/DC, featuring guitarist Angus Young and singer Brian Johnson, play BC Place Stadium, with guests the Pretty Reckless. Here’s my interview with AC/DC from 1983.

L.A. Witch plays the Pearl

TUESDAY: L.A. garage-rock trio L.A. Witch plays the Pearl, with guests Daiistar and Cherry Pick.

WEDNESDAY: Vancouver blues-rock quartet Terminal Station, featuring singer-guitarist Scott Smith, plays Burnaby’s Admiral Pub & Grill. Here’s my interview with Scott Smith from 2020.

THURSDAY: as part of the North Shore Writers Festival, hockey writers Daniel Wagner, Ed Willes, and Andy Prest take you behind the scenes of the Vancouver Canucks with some of their favourite stories, told for free at Lynn Valley Library.

Peeping Tom’s Diptych at the Playhouse

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: DanceHouse presents Belgium’s Peeping Tom dance company performing Diptych (The missing door and The lost room) at the Vancouver Playhouse.

FRIDAY: Vancouver guitar-rockers Day of the Dog play the Rickshaw Theatre, with guests Canyon Riders, Pistol Whip the Devil, and DJ J.J. Caithcart.

FRIDAY: 10-piece Steely Dan tribute band Steelin’ in the Years plays the first of two nights at White Rock’s Blue Frog Studios.

Max Max 2 screens at the Rio

FRIDAY: late-night screening at the Rio Theatre of director George Miller’s 1981 action epic Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, starring Mel Gibson as Max Rockatansky, a heroic loner trying to survive in a postapocalyptic Australian Outback.
