MONDAY TO FRIDAY: the Eastside Arts Festival, running to July 27 at various East Van locations, brings together local visual artists and musicians and features arts activities, food trucks, beer gardens, and a free outdoor concert July 26 in MacLean Park.

WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAYPlayland features midway games, mini-golf, a climbing wall, haunted mansion, food concessions, and over 35 rides and attractions, including the iconic wooden rollercoaster. Playland runs until August 15 on the PNE Grounds, then becomes part of admission to the PNE Fair.

WEDNESDAY: Quebec fireworks team Royal Pyrotechnie lights up the sky at English Bay on the second night of the annual Honda Celebration of Light.

The Sadies play Blue Frog Studios

THURSDAY: Toronto rock ‘n’ roll/alt-country trio the Sadies, composed of singer-guitarist Travis Good, bassist Sean Dean, and drummer Mike Belitsky, plays White Rock’s Blue Frog Studios.

THURSDAY: Pink Floyd tribute band Brit Floyd, featuring guitarist and bandleader Damian Darlington, performs at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on its Wish You Were Here 50th Anniversary Tour. Here’s my interview with Damian Darlington from 2023.

THURSDAY: Philadelphia punk/indie-rock quartet Mannequin Pussy plays the Commodore Ballroom, with guests Gouge Away.

Billy Hopeless plays Blue Light Studio

FRIDAY: the Toddcast Podcast presents Vancouver punk legends Art Bergmann and Billy Hopeless at Blue Light Studio, with guests CFSK (Campfire Shitkickers).

FRIDAY: legendary American singer-songwriter Paul Simon performs the first of three solo concerts at the Orpheum Theatre as part of his A Quiet Celebration Tour.

FRIDAY: opening night of the three-day Mission Folk Music Festival features mainstage performances by Lloyd Spiegel, Shpilkis, the Vaudevillian, and Strong Bow and Wry.

Babe Corner plays the Rickshaw

FRIDAY: Vancouver indie-pop singer-songwriter Young Friend plays the Rickshaw Theatre, with guests Babe Corner, worrywart, and Kylie V.
