FRIDAY: late-night screening at the Rio Theatre of a 40th anniversary restoration of director Stuart Gordon’s gory horror-comedy Re-Animator.

Sue Foley plays the Rio

Clearcut screens at the VIFF Centre
FRIDAY & SUNDAY: screenings at the VIFF Centre of a 4K restoration of Polish director Ryszard Bugajski’s 1991 environmental thriller Clearcut, starring the late Graham Greene as a militant Indigenous activist on a rampage against a mill encroaching on his people’s land.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: last chance to see Star Witnesses at the Polygon Gallery, which assembles works by 11 artists whose observations of the cosmos bring new understandings of exploratory and migratory movements on Planet Earth.
SATURDAY: tribute band Coast to Coast performs the music of UFO, Scorpions, and the Michael Schenker Group at a fundraiser for the Surrey Food Bank at Surrey Arts Centre, with guest DJ Larry Hennessey spinning hard-rock hits of the ’80s.
