Requiem for a Dream screens at the Rio

WEDNESDAY: Robert Plant’s Saving Grace, a folk-roots band featuring the former Led Zeppelin vocalist and singer Suzi Dain, plays the Vogue Theatre, with guest Rosie Flores. Here’s my interview with Robert Plant from 1993.

THURSDAY: Night Out for Palestine is a fundraising evening of music and community at the ANZA Club featuring performances by Dayshade, Colectivo Sur, L0GAN, and Buckman Coe, plus DJ sets by Amnesia Haze and Sabra Amrei, with proceeds to the Sameer Project and the Legal Centre for Palestine.

THURSDAY: the Vancouver Canucks take on the Dallas Stars in National Hockey League action at Rogers Arena.

The Crawl is on in East Van

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: the annual Eastside Culture Crawl is a four-day visual arts festival in which more than 500 artists open their East Van studios to the public.

FRIDAY: the Stomp Records 30th Anniversary Bash at the Rickshaw Theatre featuring performances by the Real McKenziesthe Planet SmashersRaygun Cowboys, and Real Sickies.

FRIDAY: Vancouver garage-punk trio Dead Soft plays Green Auto, with guests Cryptyds and Big Deal.

Stainless plays the Astoria

FRIDAY: Portland, Oregon hard-rock quartet Stainless plays the Astoria, with guests Syrinx and La Chinga.

FRIDAY: Canadian comedian Colin Mochrie and his longtime collaborator Brad Sherwood perform an evening of improv at the Centre in Vancouver as part of their Asking For Trouble Tour.

FRIDAY: 25th anniversary screening at the Rio Theatre of a restoration of director Darren Aronofsky‘s Requiem for a Dream, a hard-hitting drama about four Coney Island residents whose lives are shattered when their addictions run wild.

The Goldeneyes hit the ice

FRIDAY: the Vancouver Goldeneyes take on the Seattle Torrent in Professional Women’s Hockey League action at the Pacific Coliseum.
