MONDAY: Toronto punk-rock quartet Pup plays an all-ages show at the Pearl, with guests Snotty Nose Rez Kids from Kitimat.
WEDNESDAY: in honour of Neil Young’s 80th birthday, Adventures in Pedal Steel presents an evening of classic Shakey tunes at the Painted Ship, featuring pedal-steel guitarist Scott Smith and guests Antonio Larosa, Sam Parton, Emmett Jerome, Trevor Murray, Ashley Grant, and Erik Neilsen. THURSDAY: Vancouver rock trio Royal Strays plays an album-release party at the Rio Theatre, with guest Art Bergmann and author Chris Walter reading from his upcoming book Born Too Loose: A Messy & Incomplete History of Punk. Here’s my interview with Art Bergmann from 1990.

FRIDAY: 40th anniversary screening at the Rio Theatre of legendary horror director George A. Romero‘s gruesome zombie classic Day of the Dead.
