EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert opens

FRIDAY: Canadian alt-country/roots-pop singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards performs tunes from latest album Billionaire at the Commodore Ballroom. Here’s my interview with Kathleen Edwards from 2005.
FRIDAY: the Toddcast Podcast presents an evening of conversation and performance with Vancouver rock sextet Chase the Bear at Blue Light Studio, with guests Quadra Sound.
FRIDAY: Champions of Hope is a fundraiser for the Carnegie Housing Project, featuring performances by local punk and alt-rock bands Autonomous Apes, Muppet Boys, and Love Lucille at the Mezzanine.

Dark Side at the Dome
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: showing nightly until April 29 at the Dome, Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon is an immersive, 42-minute, 360° surround-sound journey through deep space, alien worlds, and celestial landscapes, featuring the mindblowing music from the legendary prog-rock band’s 1973 album.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: the Arts Club Theatre Company presents performances at the Stanley BFL Canada Stage until March 8 of Jeffrey Hatcher’s adaptation of Frederick Knott’s psychological thriller Dial M for Murder.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: IMAX screenings at various Vancouver theatres of director Baz Luhrmann‘s new documentary EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, featuring never-before-seen footage and newly unearthed recordings of the King.

House of Folk at the Firehall
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: performances at the Firehall Arts Centre until March 8 of Tracey Powers’ House of Folk, set in the 1960s during the height of the Canadian folk-music revival and featuring the music of Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, and Gordon Lightfoot.
SATURDAY: Fuck February Fest II at the Rickshaw Theatre features performances by Bison, Heavy Trip, Alien Boys, Space Queen, and Burnt Lung.
SUNDAY: the Vancouver Goldeneyes take on the Toronto Sceptres in Professional Women’s Hockey League action at the Pacific Coliseum.
