The Koffin Kats plays the Cobalt

FRIDAY: Buffalo rock trio Goo Goo Dolls, featuring singer-guitarist John Rzeznik, plays Abbotsford’s Rogers Forum, with guests Dashboard Confessional. Here’s my interview with John Rzeznik from 2002.
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY: running until March 28 at the Paul Kyle Gallery is The Collaborators, a pivotal retrospective of Canadian documentarian Nettie Wild, tracing her evolution from film to public installation. Special events include a screening and discussion on March 21 of Wild’s 2024 experimental performance video Klavierklang.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: IMAX screenings at various Vancouver theatres of director Baz Luhrmann‘s new documentary EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, featuring never-before-seen footage and newly unearthed recordings of the King.

Dark Side at the Dome
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: showing nightly until April 29 at the Dome, Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon is an immersive, 42-minute, 360° surround-sound journey through deep space, alien worlds, and celestial landscapes, featuring the mindblowing music from the legendary prog-rock band’s 1973 album.
SATURDAY: the Vancouver Symphony performs Brahms x Radiohead, a symphonic synthesis of Radiohead’s OK Computer album and the Brahms First Symphony, at the Orpheum Theatre.
SATURDAY: Detroit psychobilly trio the Koffin Kats play the Cobalt, with guests Billy and the Parole Models and the Cryptyds.

The Blues are in town
SATURDAY: the Vancouver Canucks take on the St. Louis Blues in National Hockey League action at Rogers Arena.
SATURDAY: local tribute band GD/BC performs the music of the Grateful Dead at the Rickshaw Theatre.
SATURDAY: the Vancouver Goldeneyes take on the Minnesota Frost in Professional Women’s Hockey League action at the Pacific Coliseum.

SUNDAY: Belgian shoegaze/noise-pop quartet Slow Crush plays the Pearl, with guests Spite House, She’s Green, and Night Mirrors.
