I interviewed guitar wizard Steve Vai for the third time back in September of 2003, when he was about to start a G3 Tour with Joe Satriani and Yngwie Malmsteen.
At one point in the conversation Vai told me about that time he and Satch invited Billy Gibbons to perform with them as part of a G3 show, and how they were both blown away by the Texas tonemaster.
Then I, rather sassily, asked Steve if playing with non-shredder Gibbons made him want to slow down a little.
