I’ve been fortunate enough to interview Steve Earle a number of times over the years. On a pretty well regular basis since his second album, Exit O, actually. During one phoner I made the mistake of pronouncing the title “Exit Oh”, and he kindly corrected me. “It’s Exit Zero.”
He’s always been very approachable backstage, as well. Not a lot of ego on that guy.
I think I got this photo taken on the Copperhead Road tour, or something around then, and then took it to him to get signed when he came through on tour for The Hard Way.
When I handed it to him he seemed a bit amused by how we looked kinda the same. “Would you buy a used car from one of these guys?” he pondered.
