Hey guitar freaks: Yngwie-fucking-Malmsteen is coming to Vancouver after all! Slash too!

Last month I did a blog about how a lot of amazing rock guitarists—Pat Travers, Jake E. Lee, Yngwie Malmsteen, Slash, et cetera—were playing Stateside gigs this year but weren’t crossing the border to bring us Canucks a taste of their wild licks.

Well, over the weekend Travers played a whiskey-snortin’ gig at some place in Tacoma called the Lucky Dog Casino, so he’s long gone by now. But it looks like Malmsteen and Slash are coming our way after all. My response to that is: fuckin’-AAA!

Although it hasn’t been announced yet, my investigative journalism skills (i.e. looking on Ticketmaster) have revealed that Malmsteen will appear at the River Rock Show Theatre on June 28 as part of the Guitar Gods show, which also features Uli Jon Roth, Bumblefoot, and Gary Hoey. Tickets for that gig will go on sale next Thursday at noon.

And all those Slash/Guns N’ Roses freaks who were thinking they’d have to travel down to the Gorge to see the top-hatted guitar hero play with Aerosmith on August 16, you can now see him and his band the Conspirators—featuring vocalist Myles Kennedy—the day before at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver. Tix for that one go on sale Friday.

Thank you, Gods of Rock, for shining on our fair city!
