When I interviewed Susan Tedeschi recently, in advance of the Tedeschi Trucks show in Vancouver this month, I asked her what she’d been listening to in her spare time.
She replied that her and hubby Derek Trucks had been really enjoying the latest Wood Brothers album Paradise–which they played on one track of–as well as David Bowie’s Blackstar, which she thinks should be up for record of the year.
I also asked if Derek ever pulled out Eat a Peach to revel in the slide-guitar stylings of his mainman Duane Allman, which led to some interesting comments from Susan.
Have a listen:
Of course he never felt like the Allman Brothers were “his band.” Were they ever supposed to be his band? Hell, they were already a band before Derek Trucks was born.
