A few days ago I had a nice little chat with Atlanta blues-rock guitar great Tinsley Ellis, in advance of his show at the Rio Theatre in Vancouver here on February 18.

I’d previously interviewed Ellis three times, in 1992, 1994, and 2008, and have long been a fan of his fiery, intense guitarwork.

At one point during the new interview I asked him about that time when he gave 14-year-old Derek Trucks his first opportunity to record in a real studio, playing slide on a couple of tracks from Ellis’s 1994 Storm Warning LP.
