Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit: Americana singer, songwriter, and guitarist, former member of the Drive-By Truckers, leads his current band, with guest Kathleen Edwards. March 5 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

Tony Wilson Quartet: Vancouver guitarist Wilson is joined by tenor saxophonist Dave Say, bassist André Lachance, and drummer Nino Dipasquale in works by John Coltrane & Kenny Burrell. March 9 at Frankie’s Jazz.

Walter Trout: American blues-rock guitarist, former member of Canned Heat and John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, with guest David Gogo from Nanaimo. March 10 at the York Theatre.

John Mellencamp plays the Orpheum

John Mellencamp: rock legend from Bloomington, Indiana performs two shows. March 13 and 14 at the Orpheum Theatre.

Two Much Guitar: Vancouver guitarists Bill Coon and Oliver Gannon are joined by bassist Darren Radtke and drummer Dave Robbins. March 16 at Frankie’s Jazz.

Duke Robillard Trio: blues-rock, jump-blues, and jazz guitarist from Rhode Island leads his trio in two shows. March 18 at White Rock’s Blue Frog Studios.

Ryan Adams: alt-country singer-songwriter from North Carolina, former member of Whiskeytown. March 21 at the Vogue Theatre.

Red Hot Chili Peppers play BC Place

Red Hot Chili Peppers: rockers from L.A. play tunes from new albums Unlimited Love and Return of the Dream Canteen, with guests City and Colour and King Princess. March 29 at BC Place Stadium.

Canadian Folk Music Awards: BC Showcase: the Rogue Folk Club and Music BC present a showcase of B.C. talent featuring performances by Jim Byrnes, Early Spirit, Stephen Fearing, and Valdy. March 30 at Mel Lehan Hall at St. James.
