MONDAY & WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: the work of late Trinidadian-Canadian artist Denyse Thomasos is featured in the career retrospective Denyse Thomasos: just beyond, running until March of 2024 at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
MONDAY TO FRIDAY: 31 emerging and seasoned local designers and makers were selected to create 22 objects made from vintage mahogany for Reclaim + Repair: The Mahogany Project, running until August 7 at the Museum of Vancouver.
MONDAY TO FRIDAY: running until January 21, Canyon Lights features a dazzling Christmas-light display on the trees, bridges, and pathways of North Vancouver’s Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.
WEDNESDAY: Adventures in Pedal Steel: 1970s Vol. 2 features local pedal-steel ace Scott Smith with his band and guest singers Rich Hope, Spank Williams, Ashley Grant, Joe Rotundo, and Chris Woudstra at the Painted Ship.

THURSDAY: Paul Mercs Concerts presents Whose Live Anyway?, an improvisational comedy show at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre featuring Ryan Stiles, Greg Proops, Jeff B. Davies, and Joel Murray.
THURSDAY: the red-hot Vancouver Canucks take on the Arizona Coyotes in National Hockey League action at Rogers Arena.
FRIDAY: the Rogue Folk Club presents A Tribute to Shane MacGowan, featuring the Pat Chessell Band and Sinead X Sanders, at Mel Lehan Hall at St. James.
FRIDAY: screening at the VIFF Centre of director Thomas von Steinaecker’s 2022 documentary Werner Herzog: Radical Dreamer, about the charismatic German filmmaker. In English and German with English subtitles.
FRIDAY: Band of Brothers: Levin & La Barbera, a jazz quartet composed of brothers Tony and Pete Levin and Pat and Joe La Barbera, plays the BlueShore Financial Centre for the Performing Arts.

Legends screens at the Rio
FRIDAY: late-night screening at the Rio Theatre of director Ridley Scott’s darkly romantic 1986 fairytale Legend, starring Tim Curry and Tom Cruise.
