Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood gets on stage with the Black Crowes and makes Faces

By Steve Newton

When the Black Crowes burst on to the music scene in 1990 with their hit album, Shake Your Moneymaker, it was pretty clear that their main musical influence was Faces, the British rock quinted fronted by Rod Stewart, and featuring current Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood on guitar.

Well, last night at L.A.’s Greek Theatre the Black Crowes displayed their indebtedness to the craggy-faced Wood by having him hop up on stage and join the band in a version of the timeless 1971 Faces hit he’d cowritten with Stewart, “Stay With Me”.

The Black Crowes’ brotherly team of singer Chris Robinson and guitarist Rich Robinson were clearly pleased to be rocking out with the 76-year-old boogie man.

No word yet on whether Wood will make an appearance when the Black Crowes play Vancouver’s Queen Eizabeth Theatre this Tuesday (April 16).
