FRIDAY: American filmmaker and pop-culture icon John Waters performs his latest spoken-word show, Devil’s Advocate, at the Rio Theatre.

FRIDAY: the Rogue Folk Club presents Hornby Blues, a blues show featuring performances by Rick Fines, Samantha Martin, Paul Pigat, and Tim Willliams at Mel Lehan Hall at St. James. Here’s my interview with Paul Pigat from 2021.

FRIDAY: the Vancouver Canucks Road Game Viewing Party at Rogers Arena features a live broadcast of the third Canucks vs. Predators playoff game from Nashville, shown on the arena’s 1,300-square-foot scoreboard. with all proceeds benefiting the Canucks for Kids Fund.

Lamenting for Ukraine at Shadbolt Centre

SUNDAY: Lamenting for Ukraine at Burnaby’s Shadbolt Centre for the Arts features an original lamentation ritual created by the Lamentation Singers and performance artist Roksolana Uhryniuk, with music by Anna Pidgorna (Ukraine/Canada), Arvo Pärt (Estonia), Kaija Saariaho (Finland), Jocelyn Morlock (Canada) and Yevhen Stankovych (Ukraine), performed by violinist Jack Campbell and pianist Anna Sagalova.
