MONDAY: the Dancing on the Edge Festival features more than 30 contemporary dance performances by Canadian artists, running until June 22 at various Vancouver venues.

MONDAY TO FRIDAY: True Tribal: Contemporary Expressions of Ancestral Tattoo Practices explores 30-plus years of Indigenous tattooing from around the world and showcases the artists who are reconnecting with traditional skin-marking practices, at the Museum of Vancouver.

TUESDAY: New York City indie-rock trio Vampire Weekend plays Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park on its Only God Was Above Us Tour, with guest Mike Gordon.

WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: Québec’s Cirque Alphonse presents its show Barbu, which delves into the birth of the circus in Montréal at the turn of the 20th century, at the Cultch.

THURSDAY: Vancouver indie-rock band from the ’90s, Jazzberry Ram, plays the Fox Cabaret, with guests Hotel Rumors and Charlie Kerr.

Ring of Fire runs at the Granville Island Stage

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: the iconic songbook of Johnny Cash is featured in Ring of Fire, a theatrical concert created by Richard Maltby, Jr. that delves into the heart of Cash’s music, running until August 11 at the Arts Club Theatre’s Granville Island Stage.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: the Rickshaw 15th Anniversary celebrations feature performances by Bend Sinister, Elliot C. Way, Colleen Rennison, and the Furniture (Thurs.); and the Pack A.D., Actors, Beau Wheeler, and Hyaenas (Fri.) at the Rickshaw Theatre.

FRIDAY: American standup comedian, writer, actor, and podcaster Marc Maron performs at the Vogue Theatre.

FRIDAY: Vancouver roots-rock sextet the Matinee performs tunes from new Steve Dawson-produced album, Change of Scene, at White Rock’s Blue Frog Studios.

FRIDAY: local author Chris Wong discusses his new book, Journeys to the Bandstand: Thirty Jazz Lives in Vancouver, at a free jazzfest event at Ocean Artworks.
