MONDAY TO FRIDAY: True Tribal: Contemporary Expressions of Ancestral Tattoo Practices explores 30-plus years of Indigenous tattooing from around the world and showcases the artists who are reconnecting with traditional skin-marking practices, at the Museum of Vancouver.
MONDAY TO FRIDAY: Emily Carr: A Room of Her Own, running until January 2025 at the Vancouver Art Gallery, features approximately 25 works drawn from the Gallery’s Emily Carr Collection, the most comprehensive holdings of her work in the world.
TUESDAY: American rapper, record producer, and actor Snoop Dogg performs material from his upcoming Dr. Dre-produced album Missionary at Rogers Arena.

Ring of Fire runs at the Granville Island Stage
TUESDAY TO FRIDAY: the iconic songbook of Johnny Cash is featured in Ring of Fire, a theatrical concert created by Richard Maltby, Jr. that delves into the heart of Cash’s music, running until August 11 at the Arts Club Theatre’s Granville Island Stage.
TUESDAY TO FRIDAY: the Vancouver Canadians take on the Hillsboro Hops in Minor League Baseball action at Nat Bailey Stadium.
THURSDAY: Brooklyn-based guitarist Luca Benedetti performs with his bassist Tony Scherr and percussionist Tony Mason at the BlueShore Financial Centre for the Arts as part of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.

Ali Velshi is at the Waterfront Theatre
THURSDAY: the Vancouver Writers Fest presents MSNBC chief correspondent Ali Velshi discussing his new book Small Acts of Courage in a conversation with the CBC’s Ian Hanomansing at the Waterfront Theatre.
THURSDAY: the B.C. Lions take on the Edmonton Elks in Canadian Football League action at BC Place.
FRIDAY: late-night screening at the Rio Theatre of director Ti West’s 2022 horror flick X, about a group of young filmmakers who set out to make an adult film in rural Texas and wind up fighting for their lives.

The History of Gunpowder plays the WISE Hall
FRIDAY: the third night of the four-night Save the WISE fundraiser features performances by the History of Gunpowder, Balkan Shmalkan, Chase the Bear, Cara Bateman, and the Reviberators at the WISE Hall.
