If you’re a diehard follower of Danny Gatton–or just a big fan of amazing guitar playing–then there’s a virtual screening going on right now that you should be aware of.
The Humbler–Danny Gatton, a new feature-length documentary directed by Virginia Quesada, is currently available to screen from anywhere in the world until this Tuesday (September 10).
For the uninitiated, Gatton–who developed his own style of “redneck jazz” that mixed country, rockabilly, blues, and other musical genres–has been called “the world’s greatest unknown guitarist”. His adventurousness and technical virtuosity has inspired such fretboard titans as Les Paul, Eric Clapton, Joe Bonamassa, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Slash, Albert Lee, and Eddie Van Halen.
In October of 1994, before his stunning guitar talents could make him a living legend, the 49-year-old Gatton met a tragic end. A percentage of the funds raised by the virtual screenings will go to his family members Jan and Holly Gatton, and also help with future distribution of The Humbler–Danny Gatton.
You can sign up for the virtual screening here.
