FRIDAY: British singer-songwriter and guitarist Paul Weller, formerly of the Jam and the Style Council, plays the Vogue Theatre, with guest George Houston from Ireland.

FRIDAY: L.A. psych-rock band Allah-Lahs play tunes from latest album Zuma 85 at the Pearl, with guests Maston.

FRIDAY: British folk-punk singer-songwriter and political activist Billy Bragg plays the Commodore Ballroom.

John 5 plays the Rickshaw

FRIDAY: American hard-rock guitar virtuoso John 5 plays the Rickshaw Theatre, with guests Sticks N’ Stones from Toronto and Turning Jane from L.A.

FRIDAY: screening at the VIFF Centre of a 4K restoration of director Dario Argento‘s 1977 horror film Suspiria, starring Jessica Harper as an American dancer who transfers to a ballet school in Germany that is actually a front for the occult.

FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: the Arts Club Theatre presents performances at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage until October 20 of Jersey Boys, a musical that tells the story of New Jersey hitmakers Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
