MONDAY: Vancouver instrumental jazz/fusion act the Eagleton Guitar Duo performs covers of popular tunes at Guilt and Co.

MONDAY & WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: exhibition of paintings by New York City-based artist Firelei Báezorganized by the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston, runs until March 16 at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

WEDNESDAY: hardcore-punk pioneers Black Flag, featuring original guitarist and main songwriter Greg Ginn, play the Rickshaw Theatre, performing songs from their first four years.

Nosferatu meets Radiohead at the Rio

WEDNESDAY: late-night screening at the Rio Theatre of F.W. Murnau’s silent 1926 horror film Nosferatu, paired with music from Radiohead’s Kid A and Amnesiac albums.

WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY: the Vancouver Symphony performs Thomas Newman’s Skyfall score live to a screening of the 2012 James Bond film at the Orpheum Theatre.

WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: The Lind Biennial, running until February 2 at Polygon Gallery, is a showcase of new work by the finalists of the Philip B. Lind Prize for Emerging Artists. Exhibiting artists include Mena El Shazly, Karice Mitchell, Dion Smith-Dokkie, Parumveer Walia, and Casey Wei.

Akira screens at the Cinematheque

THURSDAY: screening at the Cinematheque of the 2020 restoration of director Otomo Katsuhiro’s 1988 anime classic Akira, in Japanese with English subtitles.

FRIDAY: the Vancouver Warriors take on the San Diego Seals in National Lacrosse League action at Rogers Arena.

FRIDAY: screenings at the VIFF Centre of Dont Look Back, director D.A. Pennebaker’s 1967 documentary about Bob Dylan’s 1965 tour of England.

Maiden Vancouver plays the Roxy

FRIDAY: Iron Maiden tribute band Maiden Vancouver performs its Live After Death show at the Roxy Cabaret.
