Conger and Mac speak at the Revue Stage

MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: exhibition of paintings by New York City-based artist Firelei Báez, organized by the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston, runs until March 16 at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
TUESDAY: screenings at the VIFF Centre of Dont Look Back, director D.A. Pennebaker‘s 1967 documentary about Bob Dylan‘s 1965 tour of England.
WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: The Lind Biennial, running until February 2 at Polygon Gallery, is a showcase of new work by the finalists of the Philip B. Lind Prize for Emerging Artists. Exhibiting artists include Mena El Shazly, Karice Mitchell, Dion Smith-Dokkie, Parumveer Walia, and Casey Wei.
Dominic Miller plays the Vogue
THURSDAY: Dominic Miller, session guitarist and sideman for Sting, performs works from Sting’s repertoire in a jazz and folk style as well as music from Miller’s latest album, Vagabond, at the Vogue Theatre.
THURSDAY: screening at the Rio Theatre of John Carpenter’s 1982 horror classic The Thing, about scientists in the Antarctic who are confronted by a shape-shifting alien.
THURSDAY: the Vancouver Canucks take on the Los Angeles Kings in National Hockey League action at Rogers Arena.
Madison Violet plays Mel Lehan Hall
THURSDAY: Canadian folk-roots duo Madison Violet–composed of Lisa MacIsaac and Brenley MacEachern–plays Mel Lehan Hall at St. James.
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: Vancouver sextet Petunia & the Vipers combines elements of country, western swing, Mexicana, French cabaret, ragtime, rockabilly, jazz, punk, and folk at West Vancouver’s Kay Meek Centre.
FRIDAY: the Vancouver Writers Fest presents New York Times technology reporters Kate Conger and Ryan Mac discussing their book Character Limit: How Elon Musk Destroyed Twitter with journalist Kathryn Gretsinger at the Revue Stage on Granville Island.
Steelin’ in the Years plays the Rickshaw
