That time Alice Cooper told me that in 1972 his band spent $32,000 on beer alone

Alice Cooper quit drinking for good in the mid-’80s, but before that, man, he would really pound ’em back.

Especially the beers. You could often find photos of him in ’70s rock magazines clutching Budweiser tallboys.

When I interviewed Alice back in 1999 he was promoting his box set, The Life and Crimes of Alice Cooper, which included a booklet in which he stated that, back in the early ’70s, the Alice Cooper Band spent over 32 grand on beer alone.

So of course I had to bring that up, for clarification.

“We had a little Canadian is us,” Cooper joked, in response.
