That time Rob Halford told me that he admires people like Howard Stern who push buttons and rattle cages

By Steve Newton

I interviewed longtime Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford for the third time in April of 1998, six weeks after the release of Voyeurs, the album he made as part of the industrial-metal project Two.

That album was a collaboration between Halford and guitarist John 5, executive-produced by Trent Reznor. Voyeurs did not sell well, though, and five years later Halford was back with Priest.

As the interview wound down I asked Rob why there was a thank you to shock-radio jock Howard Stern in the CD booklet.
