FRIDAY: Pennsylvania emo/math-rock quartet Algernon Cadwallader plays the Rickshaw Theatre, with guests Lake and First Day Back.

FRIDAY: Canadian pop troubadour Ron Sexsmith and his band performs tunes from his latest album Hangover Terrace at the Hollywood Theatre. Here’s my interview with Ron Sexsmith from 1997.

FRIDAY: coheadlining bill featuring American hard-rock/stoner-rock bands Crobot and the Atomic Bitchwax, with guests Burnt Lung and Circle of Titans, at the Waldorf.

Ron Reed performs at Bez Arts Hub

FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: Ron Reed performs his one-man play The Top Ten Thousand of All Time–about a solitary late-night DJ counting down his favourite tunes from a mysterious studio in Kerrisdale–at Langley’s Bez Arts Hub.

Skydiggers play the Hollywood

SATURDAY: Toronto roots-rockers Skydiggers, featuring singer-songwriters Andy Maize and Josh Finlayson, play tunes from new album Dreams & Second Chances at the Hollywood Theatre. Here’s the article I wrote on Skydiggers back in 1995.

SATURDAY: Iron Maiden tribute band Maiden Vancouver plays an opening set of Maiden classics and then performs the entire Live After Death Long Beach Arena setlist from 1985 at the Tsawwassen Legion Branch #289.
