FRIDAY: screening at the VIFF Centre of The Big Lebowski, directors Joel and Ethan Coen’s 1998 comedy about an L.A. slacker and avid bowler named The Dude who gets mistakenly involved in a screwball mystery about the kidnapped daughter of a philanthropist.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: That Green Ideal: Emily Carr and the Idea of Nature, running until November 8 at the Vancouver Art Gallery, features more than 100 works by the iconic B.C. artist, exploring in-depth her obsession with the landscape of the Pacific Northwest.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: the Vancouver Canadians take on the Tri-City Dust Devils in Minor League Baseball action at Nat Bailey Stadium.

FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: Come From Away, Irene Sankoff and David Hein’s musical inspired by the true events of September 11, when 7,000 stranded airplane passengers were welcomed by the residents of Gander, Newfoundland, runs until August 16 at the Arts Club Theatre Company’s Stanley BFL Canada Stage.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: showing nightly until August 31 at the Dome, Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon is an immersive, 42-minute, 360° surround-sound journey through deep space, alien worlds, and celestial landscapes, featuring music from the legendary prog-rock band’s 1973 album.
SATURDAY: the Vancouver Metal Cruise 2026 features stoner-rock and death-metal performances on board the M.V. Abitibi by Space Queen, Egregore, and Mvlgrave.
Coheed and Cambria plays the Coliseum
