By Steve Newton
I interviewed Drive-By Truckers singer, songwriter, and guitarist Patterson Hood for the fourth time back in June of 2008, when his band was touring behind its seventh studio album, the incredible Brighter Than Creation’s Dark.
BTCD was the first album the Truckers made after Jason Isbell left, so at one point in the conversation I asked Patterson if he was concerned that the group would break up in the wake of Isbell’s departure.
Pay no attention to the part where my brain freezes and I say that Jason Isbell “broke up”. I meant to say “left the band”.
