I did my second interview with blues great Taj Mahal in April of 2013, when his trio was headed to Vancouver on a bill with Shemekia Copeland.

A few days before he called me up from Phoenix he’d performed at New York’s Madison Square Garden as part of Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival, so early on in the conversation I asked him about that, which led to some talk of Clapton himself.
