That’s what Bill Paxton’s vampire character hollers when he enters that redneck bar before chomping on necks in the horror flick Near Dark.
It’s also what I thought as soon as I saw the promo for Nickelback’s version of Charlie Daniels‘ “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”, featuring Vancouver’s Dave Martone on guitar.
For the uninitiated, Martone is a fiercely talented and technically boggling guitar player along the lines of Joe Satriani, who he’s been known to pose for wacky photos with.
I was singing his praises 15 years ago, and I’m betting he’s even better now.
You already know about Nickelback.
“I am beyond thrilled to be on this song with Chad, Daniel, Mike and Peakes,” Martone tells me. “Daniel and I have been friends for over 20 years as he has played with me in my prog instrumental band Martone. One day we decided to see if a collaboration was in the stars, and as you can now see, it was!
“The tune is heavy as hell with Drop-C riffage, machine-gun double bass, incredible vocal delivery, and more shredding then any pop song in the last 20 years! I hope you all enjoy.”
