Now here’s a matchup made in heaven for fans of electric blues guitar.
There’s some serious jammin’ going on in the first-ever studio pairing of the tasty American pickers, both former members of Roomful of Blues. Robillard brings the mastery of technique, while Earl plays more from the heart, but it all blends into a 70-minute tour de force of fiery originals and deathless gems by T-Bone Walker, Eddie Taylor, Magic Sam, and B.B. King.
The CD also sports guest appearances by Hammond B3 ace Jimmy McGriff and esteemed crooner Mighty Sam McClain, who shines on the gut-wrenching, Earl-penned closer, “A Soul That’s Been Abused”.
Stony Plain, Holger Petersen’s little ol’ label from Alberta, has reason to gloat over this unbeatable love letter to the blues.
