MONDAY: screening at the Cinematheque of French director Jean-Luc Godard’s 1960 feature debut, Breathless, starring Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean Seberg. In French with English subtitles.
MONDAY TO FRIDAY: 31 emerging and seasoned local designers and makers were selected to create 22 objects made from vintage mahogany for Reclaim + Repair: The Mahogany Project, running until August 7 at the Museum of Vancouver.

DARKMATTER runs at the PuSh Festival
MONDAY TO FRIDAY: the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival features innovative theatre, dance, music, mixed-media, circus, and installations at various Vancouver venues until February 4.
MONDAY & WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: the work of late Trinidadian-Canadian artist Denyse Thomasos is featured in the career retrospective Denyse Thomasos: just beyond, running until March of 2024 at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
TUESDAY: the SFU Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies and Independent Jewish Voices Vancouver present screenings at the Rio Theatre of Israelism, a new documentary that explores how Jewish attitudes towards Israel in regards to Palestine are dramatically changing. Event includes post-screening Q&A with filmmakers.

Hell of a Cruise screens at the Rio
WEDNESDAY: Canadian premiere screening at the Rio Theatre of Hell of a Cruise, a documentary that delves into the nightmarish experience of passengers on the Diamond Princess cruise ship during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Q&A session with filmmakers and former passengers to follow.
THURSDAY: as part of Black History Month, Vancouver vocalist Marcus Mosely performs a selection of gospel songs at Vancouver Public Library and explains how the music tells a key part of Black Canadian history.
FRIDAY: local outlaw country-folk singer-songwriter Jay Gavin performs at the Princeton Pub, with friends the Unbranded, Cat Murphy Band, Rubarb, Sinead X. Sanders, and Leah Barley.
FRIDAY: Vancouver blues-rock veteran Colin James (“Voodoo Thing”) performs with his Little Big Band on the first of two nights at the Commodore Ballroom.
