That time I asked Jon Bon Jovi if recording at Little Mountain Sound had much to do with the success of the new Slippery When Wet LP

By Steve Newton

I did the third of my three interviews with Jon Bon Jovi in June of 1987, when his band was touring behind its third LP, Slippery When Wet.

That album was recorded at Vancouver’s Little Mountain Sound and produced by Bruce Fairbairn, as was its followup, 1988’s New Jersey.

At one point in the conversation I asked Jon if he thought the studio itself had a lot to do with the success of Slippery When Wet, which would go on to sell over 12-million copies in the U.S. alone (five million more than New Jersey).
