MONDAY TO FRIDAY: 31 emerging and seasoned local designers and makers were selected to create 22 objects made from vintage mahogany for Reclaim + Repair: The Mahogany Project, running until August 7 at the Museum of Vancouver.

MONDAY & WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: the work of late Trinidadian-Canadian artist Denyse Thomasos is featured in the career retrospective Denyse Thomasos: just beyond, running until April 1 at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Madonna plays Rogers Arena

WEDNESDAY: American dance-pop superstar Madonna plays Rogers Arena, with guest Bob the Drag Queen.

WEDNESDAY: California ska-punk band Mad Caddies plays the Rickshaw Theatre, with guests Belvedere and The Corps!

THURSDAY: Artist Showcase at the Cobalt features performances by Nikkaela, Jordel, Seeing strangers, Bella Roces, and HVV, with partial proceeds to Doctors Without Borders.

Bill Burr plays Rogers Arena

FRIDAY: American comedian, actor, and podcaster Bill Burr performs standup at Rogers Arena as part of Just For Laughs Vancouver. Please note: cell phones, smart watches, cameras, or recording devices are not permitted in the performance area.

FRIDAY: late-night screening at the Rio Theatre of writer-director Harmony Korine‘s polarizing 1997 debut feature, Gummo, an unapologetically banal glimpse of life on the wrong side of the tracks in a poverty-sticken, quasi-dystopian rural mid-Western town.

FRIDAY: Comedy Here Often? presents standup comedy by Amy Walsh, Sean McDonnell, Danielle Florence, Randy Jernidier, and headliner Kwasi Thomas at 604 Studios.

FRIDAY: Vancouver power-trio La Chinga plays a release party for new album Primal Forces at the WISE Hall, with guests Rebel Priest, Cache Creek, and Tuff Duzt.

Vieux Farka Touré plays the York Theatre

FRIDAY: West African guitarist Vieux Farka Tou, son of Ali Farka Touré, explores the traditional blues of Mali at the York Theatre.
