MONDAY TO FRIDAY: True Tribal: Contemporary Expressions of Ancestral Tattoo Practices explores 30-plus years of Indigenous tattooing from around the world and showcases the artists who are reconnecting with traditional skin-marking practices, at the Museum of Vancouver.

MONDAY TO FRIDAY: writer-director Oz Perkins’s Vancouver-shot horror-thriller Longlegs, about an FBI agent (Maika Monroe) on the trail of a serial killer (Nicolas Cage). plays at various Metro Vancouver theatres.

MONDAY TO FRIDAY: Emily Carr: A Room of Her Own, running until January 2025 at the Vancouver Art Gallery, features approximately 25 works drawn from the Gallery’s Emily Carr Collection, the most comprehensive holdings of her work in the world.

MONDAY, WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY: Theatre Under the Stars presents a performance in Stanley Park of the musical School of Rock, based on the 2003 Jack Black movie, with pre-show performances from School of Rock Vancouver.

Stormy Daniels appears at the Rio

TUESDAY: porn star and political activist Stormy Daniels, best known for a sex scandal involving former U.S. President Donald Trump, takes part in an audience Q&A following a screening of the new documentary Stormy at the Rio Theatre.

TUESDAY: British rocker Billy Idol performs alongside longtime guitarist Steve Stevens at Rogers Arena, with guests Platinum Blonde. Here’s my interviews with Idol from 1984 and Stevens from 1989.

TUESDAY TO FRIDAY: the iconic songbook of Johnny Cash is featured in Ring of Fire, a theatrical concert created by Richard Maltby, Jr. that delves into the heart of Cash’s music, running until August 11 at the Arts Club Theatre’s Granville Island Stage.

WEDNESDAY: Pink Floyd tribute band from Adelaide, Australia, the Australian Pink Floyd Show, performs at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on its First Class Travelling Set Tour.

WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: Playland features midway games, attractions like the Haunted Mansion and Sweet Escape Mini Golf, food options, and numerous rides, including the newly launched rollercoaster, ThunderVolt. Playland runs until August 16 on the PNE Grounds, then becomes part of admission to the PNE Fair.
