The trailer for a new Trailer Park Boys feature, Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story, just dropped, and it looks like the movie might be DEEEEEECENT!
I’ve laughed my ass off at TPB movies for years now, starting with 2006’s Trailer Park Boys: The Movie, which I thought was freakin’ hilarious.
In my review of 2009’s Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day I claimed that “it could be the funniest Canadian movie ever made.” The movie’s marketing team liked that quote so much that they used it on the back of the Blu-ray box, but just took out the “it could be” part.
So I’ve got high hopes for SOTSOK, which looks like it might be Canada’s white-trash country ‘n’ western answer to the legendary heavy-metal mockumentary, This Is Spinal Tap.
As well as regular TPB characters Bubbles (Mike Smith), Ricky (Robb Wells) Julian (Jean Paul Tremblay), and Randy (Patrick Roach), the movie features appearances by actor/musician Billy Bob Thornton and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.
Here’s the promotional blurb from Blue Fox Entertainment:
“While Bubbles and his band, The Shitrockers, are playing shows around Nova Scotia a viral internet clip lands them a European tour opening for Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters. With Randy as their roadie, they head to Prague but soon get kicked off the tour, busking to survive. Can Ricky and Julian come to the rescue?”
Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story opens in theatres December 6.
